Certificate Program

Program Objective
This program emphasizes a combination of business and technological skills. The program combines a solid background in software support, system troubleshooting, and strong communication skills paired with teamwork skills. The Office and Computer Technology program is suitable for individuals who wish a fast entry into the job market, who are looking for retraining, or who are graduates of other areas who wish to update their computer skills. Graduates of this program could expect to find employment as a computer operator, administrative assistant, or data processor.

SMW Senior Transition Program The overall goal of the Senior Transition Program is to provide work-readiness and life skills training to high school seniors in a way that will result in measurable, documented increases in individually-assessed skill levels and the achievement of the mandated outcomes consisting of placement into employment, post-secondary education and/ or military. Participants are also required to attain a degree/diploma to ensure satisfactory completion of the program. Staff and volunteers visit each school on a monthly basis to provide information on Conflict Resolution, Time Management, Financial Planning, Career Planning, etc. Program participants are recruited from public high schools in the Jackson, Mississippi area.
